Writing, and painting, and figs! Oh my!

Uncategorized Add comments

Hey everybody! Just dropping by to let you all know that yes, I’m still alive. Tired, but alive. ; )

I’m in the final stretch for writing The Myth Manifestation (SPI Files 5). However, I’m also doing a lot of house stuff. Derek and I volunteered our house (which is the old family farm) for my nephew’s wedding rehearsal dinner at the end of September. We’ve needed to make a lot of outdoor repairs, and thought having a hard deadline would be the way to get it done — landscaping, deck repairs & decorating, powerwashing, house painting, brush clearing, etc. The only thing we’re not doing ourselves is grading and re-graveling the driveway, and clearing an embankment of small trees. (because neither me nor Derek know now to drive a bulldozer). ; )  And, as of last week, our figs are coming in. Check my Twitter feed for pics of the bounty of figgy goodness. I just texted Derek and told him that we’re gonna need a bigger freezer. We’ve got a serious bumper crop. Thankfully, the rest of the family loves figs, too. And my MIL makes world-class fig preserves.

I have a September 15 deadline for the book, and the rehearsal dinner at the end of the month. So, after I turn the book in, I’ll have two weeks to do all the last-minute stuff. Oh and yesterday, Julie Dillon, my unbelievably fabulous SPI Files cover artist, sent seven sketches of potential covers. It was so hard to choose. As soon as I have a final version, I’ll post it.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go wash some figs and finish another chapter.
Your author (and fig farmer),

So I just saw this on Nutmeg Nanny’s site and thought of you Lisa.

If I had figs I would give it a try. I will have to live vicariously!
