I know I said I’d be starting the Rob Thurman contest for her new book THE GRIMROSE PATH today, but her book comes out NEXT Tuesday, not tomorrow. Yep, my brain is still pickled from finishing the revisions for CON & CONJURE. BTW — I’m due to start writing Raine #6 (aka ALL SPELL BREAKS LOOSE) this Wednesday. No rest for an author on a new deadline. ; )
Today I wanted to show you all the dog portraits Derek & I had done by a new friend of ours from Houston, TX – the simply amazing dog artist Laura Sotka. Her website is www.DogArtDog.com, and her work is out-of-this world fabulous! We “met” when she was online looking for a model for a greyhound painting she was going to do. She saw our Andy on my site, contacted me, and Andy has gone from retired racer to artist’s model. I’ll be showing you the finished painting soon.
In the meantime, we commissioned Laura to do a series of three portraits of Lucy, our Jack Russell Terrier. One of the styles Laura uses is an Andy Warhol-style PopArt painting. Below are the three paintings of Lucy. You can click on the photo to make it larger. Laura worked from a photo we’d taken of Lucy when she was about five years old (she’ll be 13 next month). Laura perfectly captured Lucy’s personality, and we were absolutely tickled with the results.
So if you (or anyone you know) has been thinking about having a portrait done of your four-legged member of the family, OR if you’d just like to buy a print of a specific dog breed as a gift (Christmas is coming up), go to DogArtDog.com and look around. There are pop art prints of different dog breeds in martini glasses (too cute), stained glass portraits, prints, custom portraits, and more. If you have any questions, just contact Laura Sotka at dogartdog@msn.com.
Starting tomorrow throughout the rest of this week, I’ll be giving away a signed and personalized copy of each of my books, starting with MAGIC LOST, TROUBLE FOUND tomorrow, with ARMED & MAGICAL on Wed., THE TROUBLE WITH DEMONS on Thurs., and BEWITCHED & BETRAYED on Friday. Come back by tomorrow for the first contest and how to win — it’ll be easy.
